Welcome to Calligraffia

A team of our friends down under are launching a new calligraphy blog, Calligraffia which will feature “calligraphy news, views, reviews, interviews & how-tos” from around the globe.

Their launch today, February 13th, coincides with the first anniversary of the Apology to Australia’s Indigenous Peoples, and the first posting is an interview (by blogger, Rhonda Ayliffe) with calligrapher, Gemma Black, who scribed the motion for the Australian Parliament — an interesting read.

thanks Alice for your support - on both accounts.

Gemma's work is simply outstanding and I'm looking forward to all Australians becoming more familiar with it - and now via our first post at calligraffia perhaps folk further afield may become familiar with both the manuscript and the motion it captures - the Apology to Australia's Indigenous Peoples.

This is an outstanding document - both in historical significance and in execution! Beautiful work, Gemma.

This makes me wonder if Canada will do something similar. There was an official apology to our First Nations in June 2008, and I'd love to see Canada create a formal document based on that apology.
